Canadian Blah Blah TV
I don’t know about you all, but I LOVE AMERICAN TV!!!
Actually from reading some of your blogs, we seem to all be voyourers of American Television. But why, how come we don’t watch as much Canadian Television as we Canadians probably should? Do you think things would be different if we had no other choice but to watch Canadian TV, if there was no other satelites, or American Networks like NBC, CBC, ABC that we have been exposed to, just plain old Canadian Television. I think I would be extremely bored, especially if the programs that are presently exposed to us like Corner Gas…(can’t remember the rest) what a bleak existence we Canadians would have!
But why don’t we like Canadian Television, the text asks us how is Canadian Television different from American Television? Well, actors for one, the actors in the U.S. seem more attractive than in Canada, our Canadian Actors look ordinary, not as attractive or their plump and bald. Another reason is that their Broadcasting looks better, I don’t know do they spend more money on producing their shows? Another reasons is their televisions programs are way more interesting than ours, I kind of get sick of listening to Canadian humor after awhile, don’t you?
I guess I shouldn’t be so hard on Canadian Television and I should view more of it. Here is a little clip of a new program that is going to be or already is on Canadian TV: Little Mosque on the Prairie.

I would have to agree that I too would much rather prefer American T.V. over Canadian T.V. anyday. Personally, I just think that the quality overall is a lot better. The actors are cuter but the story lines itself are much, much, much more interesting. Even when I haven’t even heard of a t.v. show yet and I see it on the screen, I can usually tell whether it’s American or Canadian in the first couple minutes. Canadian T.V. tends to be a lot more low budget. However, I can be caught at times watching MTV Canada or Muchmusic at times….so I guess not ALL Candaian T.V. is bad….just the majority of it..haha. But hey, that’s just me.
I absolutely agree with you on this one. I do not actually have TV, a decision that I made in order to give my children’s live a bit more substance (it did not work by the way), but I do not live under a mushroom, I am exposed to certain programs at some point and I do own every episode of Friends on DVD, so I can hold an opinion to a certain degree on whether or not American TV is better than Canadian and it is, without a doubt. I would rather watch the episode of That 70’s Show where they come to Canada to get beer and make fun of Canadians..I loved it..I laughed so hard! You try to make me watch The Red Green Show or whatever it is and I just sit there in complete annoyance. Canadian TV does not look like REAL TV, it looks like someone is filming it in their basement with an old camcorder…it’s pathetic. I am proud to be Canadian, yet I am embarrassed at what the air waves produce as “Canadian” television, we deserve to be made fun of for that.
