I know I’m Smarter!!

I thought I would get one more blog in before class, so this this a quick one.

I watched the new game show with Jeff Foxworthy, Are you smarter than a fifth grader? I have to tell you, I felt pretty studpid!!! I only got one answe right, what does REM stand for? Well, I’m a Psych Major, I have better have gotten it right.

I don’t know if this show is to show how stupid we grown ups ca be. If we were in grade school again, especially an American grade school, we would get most of those questions right.

Anyway, I ended up feeling completely studpid after the show was over. How about you guys, the ones who watched it? Did it make you feel any smarter or worse? I thought it was like being on Jeopardy! Well, at least I get some of those questions right.

Anyway, see you all in class!

Happy Blogging !

  1. I heard about this show and I was very interested in your comments. I do not watch TV, however I think it would be fun to check that one out. I already feel that my kids are smarter than me, my 13 year old helps me with my homework sometimes. I love Jeff Foxworthy so that would be entertaining in itself. I am going to see what it’s all about, the thought that I am not of the 5th grade level of intellegence is a little disturbing. Thanks for the insight.

  2. I’ve also watched the show and really enojoyed it. I think it was created around the same idea as to why we all love trashy magazines. I think in a way, we like to see the not so intelligent part of human nature. It’s people like Paris Hilton and Linsday Lohan who get on the cover of every trashy magazine. In relation to the show we’re watching average americans answer, what seem to be, rediculously easy questions – and get them wrong. We all sit yelling at the tv “How could you possibly get that wrong!!.” I thought the show was really entertaining but a little unfair. Do you notice how for the most part we dont commit every bit of information to our long term memory, we learn it and then forget it! I think the show exploits the fact that the 5th graders have all of this information right in their short term momory because they just learned it, where as most people wouldn’t know those things right of the top of their heads! sorry it’s so long! haha
