I think in this day and age it is so hard to accept ourselves as women. We are bumbarded every day with what we should look like, and if we aren't bumbarded by these things then we are bumbarded by diets, trying to tell us how fat we are. It disgusts me. Even the skinny girls now a days are finding flaws and thinking diet is a way of correcting them. Maybe, thats just who we are, and no diet can correct this! But its easier to say that do and I am aware of that. It's just sad it has to be that way.

I've also watched the show and really enojoyed it. I think it was created around the same idea as to why we all love trashy magazines. I think in a way, we like to see the not so intelligent part of human nature. It's people like Paris Hilton and Linsday Lohan who get on the cover of every trashy magazine. In relation to the show we're watching average americans answer, what seem to be, rediculously easy questions - and get them wrong. We all sit yelling at the tv "How could you possibly get that wrong!!." I thought the show was really entertaining but a little unfair. Do you notice how for the most part we dont commit every bit of information to our long term memory, we learn it and then forget it! I think the show exploits the fact that the 5th graders have all of this information right in their short term momory because they just learned it, where as most people wouldn't know those things right of the top of their heads! sorry it's so long! haha

What about all that stuff we were supposed to be taught? You know beauty is only skin deep... It's what is on the inside that counts... Seems to me the media has been teaching us something differently and it is being told much louder. We are all so concerned with the way we look and now makeup and hairspray aren't enough, we have to physically alter our bodies to be the "perfect" girl. I could never imagine waking up with a different pair of boobs and I don't think I should have to. Neither should young girls, too young to even know themselves and who they are.
It is all so disturbing.

We all love to show off our best assets, whether it be our legs, butt, hair, eyes etc... when we know it looks good we show it off, I think it's just human nature. But, when we go under the knife to 'create' our best asset most tend to keep it hush, hush. It’s like they're embarrassed by the fact that they don't want people to know that their much larger and perkier breasts aren't really theirs, it's as if they figure that since they don't talk about it no one will know they went under the knife. Plastic surgery is something that I've never really understood or agreed with. Sure it may be necessary if you have major health problems that you're attempting to fix, but to go under the knife for mere cosmetic reasons doesn't make sense to me, and I just don't think it's worth the risk.

Like you, I was also shocked to hear people say that a number of their friends had gotten boob jobs. For some reason that is just so surprising to me. It seems like people are getting boob jobs at younger and younger ages, and that boob jobs have become more and more common. Just the thought of getting a boob job scares me, not to mention the fact that I probably couldn't afford a boob job even if I wanted one! Anways, great post!

Nice post! While I think the dove campaign was a huge success and it got alot of people's attention and thinking, I truly believe it was only a one time thing. And to be quite honest look at their stomachs. No one their is even fat....All of them just have unique body shapes but what about the chubby girls, or the girls with noticable imperfections, where are they? I mean it is great what the Dove campaign tried to do but lets be honest, sex sells, and although this idea worked once, I am nearly positive it couldnt work again

You know, I've heard a lot of flack lately for the Dove campaign saying that it's put out just so that they can make money off of it because people think they're doing a good thing, blah blah blah. But you know what? Advertising's purpose is to make the company money and frankly I don't care WHY Dove chose to put these women's pictures on billboards, in magazines, and in TV spots. I just care that they're there. I think it's awesome that little girls are being exposed to media images of women of all sizes and colours!!! And it's a super added bonus that that one girl on the far left has a visible tattoo! yay!! normal people can have tattoos too!! :)
Great post!

I heard about this show and I was very interested in your comments. I do not watch TV, however I think it would be fun to check that one out. I already feel that my kids are smarter than me, my 13 year old helps me with my homework sometimes. I love Jeff Foxworthy so that would be entertaining in itself. I am going to see what it's all about, the thought that I am not of the 5th grade level of intellegence is a little disturbing. Thanks for the insight.

Dear Writer,
AAhhh poor Anna Nicole Smith! Well at first I was interested in her mysterious death and then I got annoyed because really there have to be more important things to report. I'm a big fan of Marilyn Monroe and really I can't help to think that Anna copied her look and the way she acted all the way up to her death. But her husband ( doesnt he seem nerdy??)does look awfully suspicious since their baby will inherit all those millions. Perhaps the mystery will be solved; and I'm sure it will be hard to miss on any network when they do. Kindest Thoughts, BE
